Yes, this functionality is available if you set a device passcode and connect Felik to your home Wi-Fi network. The responsiveness of the video feed will depend on your cellular connection's data rate.
To set up Internet connectivity, please follow the steps below:
1. Make sure you have secured your Felik with a passcode. If you are not sure, open the mobile app and go to Menu > Preferences > Security. A passcode is required before enabling Internet connectivity.
2. To enable connection over Internet, go to Menu > Preferences > Experimental and enable the Connect Over Internet toggle. Felik will take up to 30 seconds to pick the fastest Internet relay server based on your current geographical location, at which point you should see the server region displayed as in the screenshot below:
You should now be able to connect to Felik over your Cellular connection or from another Wi-Fi network with Internet access. When connected over Internet, you will see the "router" symbol change to a "globe" in the top right corner of the app's screen, near the signal meter:
A Note For Geeks
Unlike webcams, Felik does not buffer the video feed. Most buffered live video feeds have a standard delay of up to 30 seconds, and even webcams will buffer a video for 3-5 seconds. So what you see in a typical webcam live feed are actually past events that happened a few seconds ago - how much ground do you think your cat or dog can cover in that amount of time?
In order to provide the most up-to-date video frame, Felik sends them as fast as possible in real time. Depending on your connection speed the frame rate may be higher or lower. Felik may chose to skip an outdated frame and send you the latest one instead, making the video "skip" for a moment.
The reason for not buffering the video feed is to remove a delay caused by said buffering. This way, if you chose to take semi-automatic control of the AI and participate in the play session your interaction will be much more real-time.
