If your mobile device is connected to Felik's Wi-Fi hotspot, but the mobile app can't detect Felik or abruptly loses connection with Felik, it could be due to a feature called "Wi-Fi Assist" (iOS) or "Smart Network Switch" (Android).
These features are enabled by default on most newer smartphones. They are designed to route all network traffic over the cellular connection if the current Wi-Fi network does not provide access to the Internet.
Felik's Wi-Fi hotspot has no Internet connectivity, so some devices will attempt to route all network requests made by the Felik app via cellular. As a result, the app will not be able to communicate with Felik.
The solution is to temporarily disable Wi-Fi Assist / Smart Network Switch while pairing with Felik. Once Felik is paired with, you can connect it to your home Wi-Fi network and re-enable these features.
For instructions on how to toggle Wi-Fi Assist / Smart Network Switch on and off, please see the following links:
iOS - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205296
Android (Google Pixel) - https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-207385/
Android (Samsung) - https://appuals.com/enable-disable-smart-network-switch-android/
If you have an Android device and the above links don't work, please perform an Internet search for "disable smart network switch" and your Android device's model, as different manufacturers will place this feature in different locations within the user interface.
* Please note that this is not something we are able to programmatically switch from within the Felik app - both Google and Apple do not allow mobile app developers access to control this feature.
